French Bisque, BeBe Jumeau, “Triste”, Size 12 – 26” Circa. 1884

This most Beautiful, sad faced child doll, appropriately known as “Triste”, is one of the most Beautiful dolls that the Jumeau Doll Company ever produced in France. This was accomplished early in their tenure as French doll makers, and catapulted them into the doll making industry in the late 19th Century. This doll is one of the most sought after dolls, even to this day; she will take your breath away with her stunning beauty. Some of her most well known characteristics are, her blushing detail on her eyelids, her chin, eyelashes, cheeks, and deeply impressed dimples at the corners of her mouth.

Description of Bisque: The head is of pressed bisque, with elongated facial modeling, and full lower cheeks. The head is attached to the body with a spiral spring attachment. She has striking blue glass paperweight inset eyes. She has painted lashes, a light mauve-blushed eye shadow, and brush stroked with multi-feathered brows. The eye corners are accented, and the eye sockets are encircled with dark eyeliner. She has a closed mouth with white space between the shaded, accented lips, and shaded nostrils. She has separately modeled, applied, and pierced ears.
