Louise offers a unique experience in doll making covering the history of the dolls being made, and explaining how the original artist actually did the art work to their doll. If you have interest in the firing techniques involved, she will be glad to explain this aspect of doll making. All question and concerns will be attended to in your Doll Camp and Creative Workshop. This makes for a very enjoyable "doll making" experience that will be remembered for years to come.
Class cost vary as to the doll being created. French and German dolls tend to be higher. Modern dolls are the most economical, and fun at the same time. These are suggested for the first time doll maker, and there are many modern dolls to pick from.
For the experienced doll maker you have the option of many antique reproduction dolls to pick from. Whether you want a Bru, Steiner, Jumeau or other French doll. There are many German dolls also available, Kestner, Heuback, Simon & Halbig or other German dolls. Louise also cover proper fabrics, laces, and period clothing needed to costume your wonderful creations once done.
When you inquire Louise will cover your doll making wants and needs so you are comfortable in knowing that you will be creating the doll in your area of interest.

Sowatzka's New Studio
Louise is now offering 2 or 3 day "Doll Camps." You can come, relax, enjoy the beautiful Northwoods, and make a doll at the same time. These classes are offered for small groups, (mothers, daughters and other doll lovers) that want to learn reproduction or modern dolls in a wonderful environment from the well know doll artist, Louise Sowatzka.
Average finished doll cost (undressed ): $125
Antique reproduction cost will vary, contact Louise for specific cost.
Custom Doll Workshops
This is one really special "doll making" experience that Louise offers. You can make a likeness of your child from a favorite picture. Create your own family heirloom to be treasure by your family. You will have to provide that favorite family picture in advance and Louise will work with you to see if this special doll can be created "by you." A very rewarding "doll making experience."

Directions to Sowatzka's Dolls
The Doll Camps and Creative Workshops are offered at our new private studio. The building is of timber frame construction,which is open, airy, with wonderful natural lighting. It is located in beautiful Lake Tomahawk, Oneida county, Wisconsin which is located in the northern part of the state. You will be able to take advantage of the many beautiful lakes and wonderful scenery. There are many sights and activities in the surrounding small communities regardless of the time of the year.

From Madison: Take Highway 51 North to Woodruff, turn right on Highway 47, 6 miles to Lake Tomahawk. In the middle of town (first cross street) turn left. One block, turn left. One block down on left, 7273 Kelly Drive.
From Duluth: Take Highway 2 East to 51 South. Turn left on Highway 47, 6 miles to Lake Tomahawk.
